About Us
Want your next event to be described with those words? Then call The
Spin.
Who are we?
The Spin is Denver’s premier variety band for goodtime
rock, pop, and soul. We offer an eclectic blend of sounds to satisfy all
tastes in music. We are a group of talented Colorado musicians working
together to provide quality, first-class entertainment. A combined
performing experience of over 60 years allows us to easily provide what
your guests are looking for—whether you like Cheryl Crow or Sheryl
Lynn, Stevie Ray Vaughn or Chaka Khan. Our eclectic repertoire, from
Motown and soul to 90s alternative rock and current rhythm and blues,
will add an exciting twist to any party or event. Founded in 1999 by
drummer Sean Dooley, The Spin has been providing entertainment for
public and private events all over Colorado.
Sean Dooley
A third-generation Colorado native, Sean has been studying music for
over 30 years. In December of 1992 he graduated from the University of
Colorado at Boulder with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in music. Sean has
performed throughout the Colorado region since he began playing
professionally at the age of 17. He has received numerous awards and
recognition for outstanding performance and musicianship. Off stage and
out of the studio Sean has a passion for Wildlife and the preservation
of our open spaces and forest lands. Despite his many interests, Sean's
most important and favorite role is father. As a single father, Sean
devotes his life to his two best compositions--his 2 and 4 year-old
daughters.
Alton King
Alton has played professionally for over 25 years. He began his
professional music career in Florida, at the age of 19, playing with
local pop, rock, original and variety bands. He was on tour in the
southeast with the popular "top-40"” band, "P.M." for several years;
playing many high-profile clubs and events in south Florida, recording
original projects, and opening for nationally known recording artists.
An outstanding singer, Alton’s vocal stylings come from a variety of
influences that spans five decades and many genres. He lends a soulful
blend of Pop and R & B to the group with his smooth and powerful sound.
Definitely a musician at heart—his thoughtful, melodic phrasing truly
makes Alton a singer’s singer and an accomplished keyboardist. Alton is
an Intern Pharmacist at The Children's Hospital of Denver and is
currently in the Doctor of Pharmacy program at the University of
Colorado Health Sciences Center.
Felicia Gallegos Pettis
A Colorado native, Felicia was born and (mostly) raised in Pueblo. A
move to Denver during high school influenced a switch of musical
interest from instrumental to vocal. During 18 years of vocal experience,
Felicia has been the featured vocalist for the Denver Continuing
Education Center Jazz Band (under the direction of Ron Jolly), Thee
Accent (University of Notre Dame student variety band),
and The Spin. Among her most memorable performances was singing the
National Anthem for a Denver Broncos' home game during their 1998 World
Championship Season. Felicia is an extremely talented and soulful
vocalist who borrows from a variety of musical influences to accomplish
her versatile sound. Felicia holds a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology
from the University of Notre Dame and completed coursework towards her
master's degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Colorado
at Denver. Felicia is a devoted wife and mother.
Leon Chetsas
Leon has been playing guitar professionally for 25 years. Originally
from Massachusetts, he moved to Colorado to tour and play music full
time. Leon has played with national and local artists Nina Storey and
Matthew Moon. He also played at the Denver Broncos Superbowl
Celebration, and has been on the bill with Men At Work. In 2002, Leon
released an all instrumental CD with his band at the time, "Fuzzchunk".
It is a great mix of rock, funk and jazz fusion. He was chosen as a
semi-finalist in 1991 and 1992 for Musician Magazine's Best Unsigned Band
Contest. Leon also received "honorable mention" in Guitar Player
Magazine's 4th Annual Soundpage Competition. He is constantly pursuing
"THE TONE"!
Chris Harris
Chris is a bassist originally from Ft. Wayne, Indiana and has performed
with such renowned acts as Bo Diddley, Leslie Drayton, Rob Mullins,
Pinetop Perkins, Nelson Rangell, Matt "Guitar" Murphy, and Son Seals.
Chris can be heard on various recordings for locally produced television
commercials, television shows, CD projects, and various other studio
projects. He has toured in Japan and America with the Fanfare Circus of
Las Vegas and with Son Seals throughout Europe. Chris is a versatile
player who successfully combines exceptional talent, musicianship, and
professionalism to provide extraordinary entertainment for any venue and
